Hey everyone! This little project was inspired by a video on Langton Loops, a cellular automaton capable of recreating itself over and over. Google it. It's neat. You might have seen John Conway's game of life, which is probably the most famous cellular automaton. I thought it would be neat if there was a tool that allowed people who don't know how to code such a simulation to make one regardless. That's what this is!

In the 'rules' tab, you can define rules that determine how different cells interact. For example, 'A red cell with a green cell above it should turn blue'. Pretty simple, right? Yet with a combination of these rules, you can create really cool simulations!

In the 'cells' tab, you can paint different cell colors onto a grid, hit run, and watch your automaton come to life!

CellSandbox has a save/load system, so you can keep your cool automatons to yourself or share them around!

If you need help understanding the rule system, check the 'help' tab in the app, or watch my video.

There's a zip file below with a couple of my simulations that you can check out to get started.

Fair warning: large grid sizes or large amounts of rules can make the simulation run slower.

Have fun!
